About The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital
The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (BMSCH) is a regional resource for specialized pediatric care. From the moment patients come through the door, they experience the difference. Comforting spaces, child-friendly design and unique special touches make families feel at home.
A Family-Friendly Environment
In the children’s hospital, every room is a private room, with a separate bathroom and sleeping area for parents. Video games, DVD players, lounges for adolescents and toddlers, laundry facilities and a full children’s menu are just a few of the amenities.
Throughout the building are special touches that make BMSCH unique, from the giraffe in the Interactive Gallery that measures your height to the surgical suite specially designed to care for children.
A Full Range of Pediatric Specialties
With access to the latest technology and research, parents are drawn to BMSCH. Past the Magic Fountain and through the revolving doors, parents find specialists in all areas of pediatrics. From pediatric surgery, urology and cardiology to oncology, hematology and pulmonology, specialists and intensivists are ready to care for children of all ages from fragile newborns to adolescents.
Treatment here goes beyond traditional medicine to care for families too. Our family resource center and child life specialists help patients and families handle the psychological and social impacts that illnesses may cause.
Nursing Care
The Nursing and Patient Services Division of BMSCH provides family-centered care in an environment which promotes healing. The care team consists of registered nurses and patient care technicians who integrate caring and compassion with evidence-based practices that treat the patient and family.
The excellence in nursing practice is further evidenced by our designation as a Magnet Hospital three consecutive times by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
A Growing Pediatric Campus
BMSCH is the hub of a growing pediatric campus that provides the most comprehensive care for children.
The nearby Child Health Institute of New Jersey is a center for biomedical research and pediatric care, featuring an ambulatory care center, research laboratories and offices for Robert Wood Johnson Medical School faculty. Here, scientists, researchers and clinicians converge to study and treat diseases that threaten children.
Next door is the new PSE&G Children’s Specialized Hospital, a rehabilitation hospital for children.
The Ronald McDonald House, where families of sick children can live during the child’s hospital stay, is just a short walk away.
